[Error Code] SC 396 Ricoh MP 5000

Hi guys,

I do not usually work on Ricoh's, However I have gotten a Ricoh MP 5000 that is giving me an SC396 on start up, Looking for a starting point. Thanks in advance

SC 396 Drum motor error
The machine detects a lock signal error from the drum motor for 2 seconds after the drum motor turned on.
- Overload on the motor
- Defective drum motor
- Defective harness
- Defective IOB

Is this machine new? I've not seen drum motors go bad much. I'm curious if your Drum/PCU is bound up.

I'm wondering if someone's pm'd it and put an A230 drum in there, I've had PCU's lock up when someone's tried that.

I've had no problems with A230 drums, thats all we have here.
