    mp1600 intermittent jams

i have a mp1600 that is throwing jam code 10 which is registration no feed off. this is intermittent. i have seen the machine jam a few times.only jams from tray 2 (ps 460) which is mainly used for a3. tray one works fine. it jams well before the registration roller. when i open the right hand side door i can see atleast an inch sticking out. seems like the paper just stops. it has an optional tray ps 460.
on the back of the second tray there is a stepper motor not a clutch in which the feed roller leads to.

i have replaced the feed roller and the friction pad.

Can try those clutches. have you tried an output test on them. Think this model has that. I was reminded of an old trick earlier this week which is to loosen the fences a bit and bow the lift portion of the tray upwards a small bit so it has better contact with the pickup roller.

you can also try the seperation pads, on the AF 1027 models they are usually the problem, could also b a problem on these models

please check also lower right door guide. what if, you change the paper setting? put the A3 size on tray one and test the PS460 with different size ex. A4.
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.....A.E.

friction pad has already been replaced. i have tried putting a4 into the ps460 and i couldnt get it to jam. most of the time even with a3, i cant get it to jam anyway.

hi.after continuous jams from the ps460 tray, i tried changing the paper size to a4 and a4r and suprisingly did not jam. when i put a3 back in it stopped jamming. any thoughts? i have a feeling it will start jamming again soon.

i've got one doing the same, same model and same option tray 2 but on a4. I cant fault it but customer says its jamming. I did get caught out for the first visit when the tray wouldnt lift - ordered a motor only to discover the tray guides were too tight and it would stop the lift up motor going all the way up. I ran 10, 20 then 10 sets all ok so ill be interested to find a reason for this. Mines done 20k.

Ditto on the side guides being too tight against the paper. I've had this a few times.
