    Gestener help please

    Hi Guys

I'm going to start by saying I'm not a copier tech, (I'm an instrument systems man myself) and I appreciate your frustration with helping non-techs...

    but

I'm stuck on an oil rig with a DSM735 showing SC542, and a brand new one which needs an IP address set up... If any one could tell me how to reset the error on the old one so I can get the info I need help everyone here out, I'd be most greatful.

It's not like you're doing anyone out of any work as It's unlikely we'd go to the expenses of getting a tech out here, (cheaper to get a new machine) although if anyone fancies becoming an offshore copier tech for the UK sector of the north sea I could give you some advice and contacts...

    fingers crossed

    regards

    Dave

SC542 is a warm-up error for the fusing unit.

Press 'reset' (yellow button) followed by 1, 0, 7 and then hold down clear (red / orange button) until 'Copy SP' is displayed.

Then turn the machine turn off and on.

If SC542 returns after that you will need to inspect the fusing units two thermistors, thermostat, lamp etc.
(I would imagine you have a multi-meter kicking around a oil rig somewhere).

      Thanks for that Daz

We now have two functioning units (for now)

Always nice to find someone helpful on a Forum

      Take care.

(and yes we do have a multimeter although it is often regarded as just another blunt instrument.)
