      Per the global knowledge base:
"machine has locked scanner to perform another function, try again later"

Check to see if something is printing, receiving a fax, document server, etc. Try pressing the stop key, and if needed, reboot.

Check the other functions and hit stop to make sure nothing else it trying to scan or just reboot it.

I've had the fax unit hang and not release control to the rest of the machine also. Reboot and ensure your firmware is up-to-date.

Thanks for all the replys. I called the customer to ask them to reboot and they told me it was working OK now. Weird.

You can also have the customer hold down the Clear Modes and Stop buttons at the same time through each function of the machine. When you get to the one that's waiting for a prompt you'll hear the engine start to fire up again.

Pretty much. It's clearing out any unfinished items in each function of the machine. I've seen this a lot when people leave an unfinished copy job. The machine is waiting for a prompt to stop or continue so it keeps other functions from using the scanner function.
