    Aficio 3045 - Scanning numerically??

I have a customer that has asked me if I could set the scanner on their Aficio 3035 to scan numerically.
In other words....Set it to start at 001, and continue in numerical order after that, and if the machine would or could also display the Scan # either at the time of the scan, or after it was complete, so that it could be marked on the first page of the scan for reference purposes.
It is currently set for SMB scanning, and I know it assigns a long "date style" number format, but that doesn't really work for the purpose they have in mind.
Just wondering if there are any settings in service mode or otherwise, that might allow for this?

    Thanks

Typically this must be done with some third party solution software that allows you to 'tag' the scans for later indexing. PPDM may be able to do this but you need a Java enabled machine. ECopy can also do it, but it's expensive. I don't think you can do anything using just machine functions.

you can give the file a name or number before scanning, simple as that with no costs...
sigpicWe can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

If this were a Copystar CS-5050 for example, you can select the following defaults: System Menu, Common Settings, Functional Defaults, File Name Entry, here the default file name and be entered up to 30 characters (for this case leave blank), here change default Date & Time to Job Number, OK.

I suppose this doesn't help you too much... =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks, but it's not that simple based on the application they have in mind, and keeping an ongoing number sequence when we are talking 10's of thousands of files, scanned by dozens of different people isn't so easy

No way to do this on a machine level; you'll need some sort of third party solution.

The most likely solution I can think of is NSi AutoStore, which would allow you to create a workflow to do what you want. It integrates with most Ricoh devices quite well.

You can download a demo copy from NSi AutoStore

If you know how to program using regular expressions, you can get AutoStore to do almost anything!

Other possibilities would include Ricoh GlobalScan and maybe Dataworks.

Thanks for the input /suggestions. I had a hunch that I'd need something like that, but it's something that I've not dealt with and is most likely over my head, but at least i have something to offer the client other than "I don't know"...Thanks again
