Ricoh 3224c Jams when Bypass Installed

Machine works fine if we completely remove bypass assembly. We have tried 3 assemblies, so it must be something internal in the machine. If we install the bypass it jams from either cassette as it comes up the side of the machine, Jam behind door on right.

    Any ideas why?

    Thanks

the bypass is driven by a "pre registration roller", these are driven by a clutch, check this clutch, maybe it is slippery

okay, we got the bypass installed and this time the machine works fine. Now the bypass won't work. Seems like there is just not enough drive to turn the feed rollers. Is this powered by the Registration clutch feed or by the clutch built into the bypass?

      Thanks

Unevenly tightening the 4 mounting screws or torquing them to much can carp the frame and cause this problem. I think there was a bulletin on this and an order in which to tighten the screws. Like UL>UR>LL>LR. Also remember that when you copy from the bypass you need to specify (#) the paper size.
