You'd be more in the ballpark if you add an extra zero to those numbers and then maybe double it...

I'm sure you can get it for much cheaper, I was guessing MSRP. But I can't see getting a good used one for under $1000.

              Right you are, TeeBee!

The list price for the black and white scan module is just over $2,000.

The color one is a bit over $3,300.

Either would require a media format converter board, and it comes in at about $570.

Again, these are list prices for new stuff.

I'm sure there are bargains to be had out there.

He also needs to count the cost of installation by a qualified tech. I'm guessing he is just a end user.

yes sir.. im an end user... wonder if its cheaper to sell this one and purchase a used one with a scanner...

actually, i have another aficio that does scan.. its the previous model to my aficio mp w2400 though.. but it does scan to ftp/pdf.. is it possible to take the scan module outta that one (i think its the ricoh af 240w or 480), than purchase the media format converter board to install on my w2400?

i appreciate the knowledge by the way

                    Good idea, but no banana.

                    They're different options.

wow.. this is crazy.. theres got to be a way other than spending thousands of dollars.. its hard to believe that add on is going to cost just as much as the machine.. typically how much is a good used or refurbished aficio 2400 with scan option?

Your ahead of the game if you paid 5K for the 2400. Finding used wideformat equipment are not easy to come by as their production is much smaller than say a copier or fax which all companies need to function. Any ways I can give you near wholesale cost or used cost on tuesday if you like.
