Ricoh 5560 Stuck on Please wait or SC673

Hello originally I had a intermitant SC672 error on my copier but normally I could print before it showed up. So I removed the control board and rechecked the ram and such to make sure it was seated right and then it came up with SC672 first thing once turned on and about 3 seconds after the please wait. So I pulled it out and put it in again couple times and I can get it to not have that error but now it is stuck at PLEASE WAIT.

I also tried holding the reset button and pwr button on the control board hoping to reset settings but no avail.

I heard taking the HDD out and updating it can help solve the issue, BUT I have no idea were the HDD is.

I messed up the title it was meant to be 672. Anyway found the 4 HDD and have disconnected each one and tested and also took out memory and so forth and all cables and replugged it all in again and still 672 error.

Is there a override? it use to turn on fine. I wonder if me pressing the reset button on the cb caused it to lock onto 672.

      hopefully someone can help

PS. one odd thing I notice is that I can't seem to enter service mode and also the lights left of panel never light up as per normally would be expected. I wonder if there is a cable loose to the op panel, unfortunately I don't know exactly were to start. Suggestions would be nice.

ok last post. I notice a red led on the upper right board of copier that is blinking and around 5 red leds blinking on the removable control board with the Ethernet port in it, which are numbered upto 8.

Please excuse my lack of fancy terminology. Guessing that reset I did possibly wiped the firmware? or something else I am missing.

The wires on the control panel seem all ok. I believe I need to reset something on the removable control board perhaps (hopefully not need to replace).

HDD's are normally the fault for 672. Replace them as a set.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

I tried with them disconnected but didn't change much. I will format all 4 of them again on pc and see if that sorts them. Probably got currupted

what partition type is used? ...........

ok I just formated as fat. I plugged them all back in then turned copier on, and it worked!

However then after a while 672 error came back and now won't turn on correctly. Hmm might recheck those cables again and see.

Well if I let the system sit for a while it normally comes back on but after a while two things can occur. It has 672 error and now sometimes the LCD screen goes black. Only thing I been messing with is format of HDD as of late so will need to fiddle some more.

If it helps on one of the boards it has LED6/5/4/3 and LED 6 is blinking. The upper board on the back (not removable control board).

Hope someone can give me some options to try soon as the HDD reformat didn't seem to work, unless its a broken IDE cable which I cannot see?

Op panel black can be a 24v line down. I think this may also cause SC672. Pull all the paper trays (shorted tandem tray solenoid to rail?) and remove finisher then see if the machine boots. Also check the connections between the ADF and controller.

                        Take your pick:
controller start up error - bad 256MB DIMM (B1325763) or incorrect DIMM (PC2100)
controller start up error - check scanner cooling fans, possible PSU, harness, loss of 24vdc
controller start up error - replace HDD
controller start up error - replace NIB card
controller start up error - replace mother board (B1325766)
controller start up error - replace system sd card
                        replace controller board
                        sigpic

Had the same problem, take out the memory chips and clean the contacts with alcohol plug everything back together and power up.
                          Good luck

did that. No change. I pulled all memory out, all HDD out and same error. The darn fans don't turn on nor does that main laser unit (no loud warm up noise) only LCD screen and after 40sec a SC672 error.
