    mpc 2050

    scans to folder

    setup scan to folder on a mpc 2050. Only way i could get it to work is to set it up with IP example: \\192.168.1.xxx\scans. Now if i tried using the computer name say: \\user\scans it will not go through. now i can leave it for now but if that computer changes ip for some reason there scan to folder will not work!!

    all machines on network are xp pro!! This is the only copier I've had to do it this way. Is there a reason why??

      Did you configure the DNS server address on the machine?

      Also, if your windows is 64bit, chances are you're in for a world of pain...

          yep DNS is enter and no all 32 bit windows xp pro machines

              just change the IP on the machine to a fixed IP. I've had that issue before. I think it has to do with the characters used in the name.
              Then I had one where I used the name in the path and a week later it woulnt work. "Have thee been any changes on the network" "No." After much searching I found she had changed the name of the computer.

                  remember the machine is case sensitive, so I would check that first.
