    ricoh 1224c duplex jamming problem.

we have a ricoh 1224c copier that jamms everytime we try and do a duplex copy. the machine indicates there is a jam in sections b,c and z. The machine stops with the paper sticking out half way out the fuser. also one side of the page comes out fine but the back side of the page comes out with only half of the image. any ideas of why it could be jamming or why its only printing half of the page on the back.??

I barely recall this problem. I think at the end it was a faulty reg- or interim transport clutch. Took me some time because simplex printing was ok that's why I didn't expected a faulty clutch.

Ive a similar issue a while back, if memory is correct there is a solenoid activated clutch on the LHS (looking from the back of the machine) that controls transfer roller, my symptoms where PCQ only on duplex copying/printing & intemittent jamming.
          Solenoid was sticking.

thanks for the replies, i will check out my service manual to find the part.. is there a test that can be performed to see if the clutch is working, maybe like in "sp mode"??

forget the test programs - in some cases (sensors, clutches) this is just a rudimentary test but you still can't be shure if these components are working probably during the printing process where it comes to the exact needs of timings etc.

There's an "output check" in copy sp, category 5-??? though

Its been my experience that the two spring clutches on the rear of the duplex unit will cause thiis, They look like pulleys but they are spring clutches.
