SC824 means the machine has a problem under self diagnosis with the standard NVRAM.
Under the self diagnosis the machine thinks the NVRAM is defective or missing and gives the error code.
It is usually the NVRAM that has to be changed - but it can be a loose connection or a defective controller.
Before you do anything check that the NVRAM is placed firmly in the socket.
If it doesn't work after you have replaced the NVRAM you have to replace the controller.
I have replaced 6-7 NVRAM chips but never a controller. It has done the trick so far.
The replacement procedure is in the service manual. Think it is (3.13.5)
You will need a SD card for the back up procedure.
Hey, good news, can you expand on this a little for me/ I am running 2232C same code SC824 - copier worked fine, now nothing- code came up after we moved offices.
Had two techs come out, one claimed it was hit by lighting and all the boards were blown, tried to sell new machine, other tech claimed the hard drive was bad- I escorted him out immediately.
MY GOD its hard to find a good tech in Central Florida ! I am ready to buy the controller board or the Nvram, I just need a little help , maybe a diagram? this has turned into a DIY job unless anyone is a good tech in Lakeland, FL and will come out, please give me any info you can- you guys and this site has saved me so many times in the last 10 years, here we go again !
In additional to checking that the NVRAM is seated properly, also check if there is a File Format Converter installed. If there is, it could be bad or not seated properly. Remove the file format converter, if present, and see if the machine will boot without it.
For sabankosz, I would say that if the problem started immediately after moving, ther is some that vibrated loose during the move.
