I have a customer with a 2238C, that prints very good. It copies OK from the platen glass - but from the document feeder .. there is a problem.
The color change in one side of the page.
I have used the color test pattern that I have printed from printer service mode.
I copy the paper, and on top it's good, them the vertical lines start to become less dense. The black one changes color from black to dark blue to green..
The red color is not red on the copy it is magenta. The green is still green, but it has more yellow in it. And the blue is a mix between green/blue. .
And there is a few strekes on the page too.
I'll see if I can add a picture and show you.
I start to think that the paper is not close enough on one side to the scanner glass.
I'll see if I can make some ajustments - but If you have seen this before it would be nice to know.
It has made 120K B/W prints and 300K color prints. All the dev units and PCUs are fairly new (23K pages). And this does not matter any way since the prints are nice for an old machine. Normally we would just ask the customer to replace the machine with a new one - because we don't have time to waste on old machines. But this customer can not afford a new one. And I would like to have at least a few of these machines in the field so I can use all the parts we have in storage - and I like to see machines that work for years too. They bought is used a few years ago, and I think they want to keep it for a few more years.
Just had an old AF650 that had made about 1,5 mill copies a year for 10? years now..
And is still worked fine.. they had just changed the way they did business - and had no need for it anymore. It kind of made me sad since it had worked almost perfectly for such a long time. I must be sentimental
But back to the 2238 series. Do the CCD tend to fade over time? Since I've had other machines that prints fine - but the copies are a bit dull.
