I have a new installed 2 machine MP 7001, one of them had an error code SC 555 after 100K copies, done cleaning a 2 thermistors and reset error code by accessing sp mode then turning off and on power switch. checking the customer's power voltage not exactly 220 volts. my concern is...why the other machine is not given error code? is anybody experience this trouble? please advise...thanks in advance.

Oh boy, do a little search for SC542 and SC555. The whole series of machines going back to the 2055 have been well known for throwing these codes. There's no sure fire solution either, AFAIK. We live with these codes quite often. -

APPLICABLE MODEL:
RICOH - Aficio MP 6001/MP 6001 SP/MP 7001/MP 7001 SP/MP 8001/MP 8001 SP

SYMPTOM:
A SC542 or SC555 occurs.
CAUSES:
Temperature misdetection has occurred by the thermistors.
When using paper with a high paper dust content, the amount of toner that sticks to the surface of
the fusing roller increases. This toner and paper dust mix then sticks to the temperature-detecting
elements of the thermistors. As a result, the thermistors are unable to detect the temperature of the
fusing roller correctly.
SOLUTIONS:
If the symptoms occur:
1. Clean or replace the Fusing Roller.
NOTE:
If the fusing roller is dirty, the toner and paper dust tends to stick to the thermistor more easily.
If the SC codes continue:
2. Replace the Middle and Rear Thermistor Brackets.
NOTE:
This will secure the thermistors in the correct position, which ensures that they can detect the
roller temperature correctly.
The distances [A] are different between
the new and old style brackets.

3. Replace the Middle and Rear Thermistors with the new style thermistors. See GENERAL for P/N
information.
NOTE:
The new style Thermistor is resistant to toner buildup on its surface.
Changes:
1) The material of the Teflon tape has been changed.
2) The width of the Teflon tape has been decreased.
3) The thickness of the Teflon sheet has been increased.
Reasons:
1) To make the surface smoother.
2), 3) To make it more difficult for toner to stick to the surface.

like stated above, there is a new thermistor available to help keep these codes down. But... I would recommend that you have this code rather than just clean um... replace them as well, as it will come back. These machines do this all the time. Also, be sure that the pressure roller hasn't developed a "flat spot(s)" you'll hear it thump when you turn the fuser drive knob. (the one to get jams out)
Ugggg... they can be a pain... I mean really... WTF!!! I get the code with the damn thing barely dirty!!Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder.
They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.Comment

I have installed several sets of new brackets and thermisters. I think they are worth doing but aren't a complete cure, they just extend the interval between occurrences. Turning the AOF feature in user tools off helps too.Comment

Eric is correct... I had 2 brand new MP8001's with this problem, they already had the latest (Spot) brackets and we changed to the slimmer thermistors even before they were on general release. They DID NOT cure the fault! new firmware was installed as soon as it was released and the machines have run for for 6 months without a problem!... IT'S THE FIRMWARE!!!!!Comment
