Sevice Request for Richo Aficio 1515MF?

    Hello Forum

I realise these forums are populated mostly by professionals who make a living from what they're talking about, so not to waste my time - this is an open request for service.

I've asked my local NZ Richo service agent for help, but received no reply - so, I can't see a problem in broadcasting my needs more widely (if others can please let me know). Copied at bottom is my request to the service agent, and the (only) results. So, after a number of phone calls and no interest I've come here.

I want a software upgrade for my Richo Aficio 1515MF. As per the email below, I believe the machine should be able to do scan to ftp with the right software, which it doesn't have at the moment. Also, I would very much like for the machine to do T.38 - I assumed it did when I bought it, but realised it was only T.37.

If anybody is able to help for a reasonable fee, please let me know. Negotiation off forum.

    Regards,
    Morgan.

    Subject: Ricoh 1515mf
    Hello Sanjeen

Attached is a document (ScanToFTPWhitePaper) re setting up Ricoh
machines for ftp - it includes the 1515 (3 versions) in the list of
machines the document refers to. It doesn't seem a mistake to me
because the document refers to the 1515 and it's included 3 times (once
for each version - once might be a mistake, but not 3 times). So, I'm
wondering how is this achieved and assume it must be via firmware upgrade?

Also the Appendix 9 to the Network Guide (attached) shows at p97 ftp as
the protocol used by the delivery server.

I would like costs for all firmware upgrades and also list of
bugs/fixes/features addressed by the firmware upgrades please.

Prior to my acquiring the machine it was serviced by Ricoh under account
number 50240. What would be the terms of service contract if one were
    available?

    Regards,
    Morgan.

    Hi Morgan
As a suggestion you may like to remove the Warning Section off the forum. And keep the original document personal, ie remove all identifying information of origin.

This forum is not used for a personal vendetta or slander advertisement.

If you seek a genuine request for help with :
    o scan-to-ftp
    o Scan-to-folder
    o scan-to-email ,
then that is fine. Any thing else seems gratuitous...

All of us Techo's see the odd disgruntled customer from time-to-time. We know where your coming from. It appears like you may have burnt some bridges...

Remove the identify information an I'm certain all the genuine Tech's on this site will help you where ever possible....

I have direct access to the Firmware Server and can assist you with the software and knowledge of what you require.
Now I would only do that for someone genuinely in need...

If I did help you I can see that I have made a rod for my own back, in that, it would be a big learning curb for you to install the firmware yourself.

You can use the Scan-Router program to scan-to-folder using ftp, but this program isn't supported anymore. Setting up scan-to-email is a much easier method to scan.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but keep in mind that this is an entry level machine, and is roughly 9 years old. (That's nearly an eternity in MFP time.)

The 1515 can only scan to email on it's own - there is no firmware update that will allow scan to SMB or FTP.

As Eric mentioned, the only way to get the 1515 to scan to SMB would be to use a now defunct product called "Scan Router Lite", but as I recall, it can't scan to FTP. Its also now-defunct big brother, a chargeable product called Scan Router, could scan to FTP.

BTW... The "Delivery Server" you mentioned is Ricoh's name for the PC running Scan Router. It is not simply the name for a PC or Server running FTP services on your network.

Also, the 1515 only supports T.37, not T.38.

You may want to look into doing pull scanning into an application, such as Acrobat (not Reader), Irfanview, or the like. Then you can send the resulting scans wherever you like. The TWAIN driver it requires is a free download from Ricoh.

Like NeoMatrix mentioned. PLEASE keep any identifying information out of your posts, as well as any sort of ranting. You'll make more friends that way.

          Hi Folks

Thanks for coming back on that.

Please GDM, be assured it's a genuine request - I've got better things to do than diss anybody. I simply suspect optl have got better things to do than worry about 1 guy with an old machine! I just wanted to point out I've asked the local reps, so I (or anybody else) shouldn't be stepping on anybodies toes. I don't run Windows or OSX on my laptop, which is one reason I don't want ScanRouter Lite or heavy, I have run it via VirtBox but that's a pita. At the moment it's scanning to postfix which is good, but that's not an answer if I want to run a document server. Re the T.38, I had thought the machine did that before I bought it, now I'm looking at trying to put Asterfax/Noojee fax on my asterisk server, that's a lot of work if I could do the same on the 1515. (In fact it's so much work I should just go out and buy the machine for the job, but that's not my modus operandi).

Hope that's cleared up any misunderstandings.

Many thanks & let me know if I can PM.

          Regards,
          M (pseud)
PS sorry if the real me is a put off, but I did remove the email links
