    Rico-h Fax 1180L

    Message on screen says 'remove document- press stop to confirm'. Needless to say there is no document in the adf. I have replaced the two sensors in the adf that recognize the scanner cover is closed and whether there is a doc in the feeder.I checked all cables/connectors back to the main board-all ok. help pls

    I don't know if this works on faxes and on that particular box, but did you try to disconnect the ADF to see if the fax will work without it?

      that's probably caused by another sensor/actuator in the paper path of the adf. You should also clean the scanner glass and white plate in case it's been involved to recognize paper. I don't know this particular model to give a more specific advice, sorry.

        Yes I did disconnect the adf, and the fax worked, or rather powered up without the error message.

          Thanks for reply, there are only two sensors for paper feed in the adf, 1 sees the document in the adf and the second is just before the scanner that sees the end of the document, both photo interrupter sensors. So i am lost !

            Well, without knowing that particular model, and knowing that the fax seems to work with the adf disconnected, I see a couple of possibilities:

            - A pinched or broken wire on the adf;
            - If the adf has a pcb, maybe it is malfunctioning;
            - Could it be that one of the new sensors you fitted is also damaged? I had a similar situation happen to me, so don't discard that hipothesis.

              I was at this again this morning. As I said when the adf was disconnected from the pcb, there was no error. However when I unplugged the two sensors and the pf motor individually I still had the error, this left only 1 possibility- the paper feed sensor just before the scanner, as they are all on the same connector at the pcb. I swapped this over and Bingo! So it's one to look out for.

                Cheers!
