Check the transfer belt lift motor and gears in the back of the machine.
The lower half lifts and drops.
Pages 4-23 and 6-86/87 in service manual.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

The transfer belt lift sensor can get quite dirty with toner. There is a tab on the rear of the transfer unit that goes through the sensor.

check that the mylar on the right door isn't hitting mylar on the transfer unit. this can keep the unit from raising just enough it doesn't reach the sensor. you can trim the mylar on the transfer unit if its mangled.
