    Print counter

    Hello,

I have a MP3350, I would like to count impressions.

I have a computer with multiple users, I would count the number of prints of each user.

I is already counting the total number of impressions made from the computer. I put a user code on the printer driver.

But how do you count per user or per session. I think installing the driver several times with different codes, but nothing prevents the user A of going to print to the printer of the user B.

    Help me please. Thank you

Can you not use one user code per user and get a user code print summary at the end of each day / week?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I hope that on one computer, I can count the impressions of many users. Without having to install several times the printer on the computer! Or install the same printer multiple times on the same computer, but how to prohibit a user A to print to the printer User B?

      Thank you in advance.

I can count the impressions of a user on a computer, but I can not count the impressions of several users on the same computer.

You can install a custom pcl driver with a popup that requires a user code input with every instance of use. I've never done it myself but check the threads for the procedure or keep looking back here, someone with the knowledge will post something.

Addendum- found this documentation on another thread (thanks go to Cipher), should point you in the right direction...

The GUI based YAPD driver editor should be posted on the TRSC site any day now.

It has cleared QA, and should be posted very shortly.

No point in messing with all that XML jazz if you don't have to, right?

BTW... This new version will also edit the Universal PCL6 driver. as well.

I like questions like this because they get me thinking.

If you use only one instance of the standard PCL 6 driver it's just a matter of the user remembering to delete the user code before the next person uses the computer. But what if you want to use the RPCS driver and have multiple printers called Bob, Ted & Alice that have user codes and custom print settings?

I suppose that one way to control access would be to share each printer in windows and setup the permissions so only Ted would have access to his printer after he logs on to his account.

This might be a better world without Windows, but it would be darker world if all I had for sunglasses were Apples.

I have several clients with this issue and I customize the driver. Whenever someone sends a print jumps a pop-up to put the code.
Ricoh recently released an drivers editor that really comes in handy.
Formerly it was needed to do it manually but now everything is easier.
Go to the ricoh-suppport.com (i am from Europe. I dont know in America or other places).
you will see that program (next the "up2me; Smart device, etc.). It is easy to work.

                  Re: Print counter

So I tried the driver editor and it works great on the newer machines, but it wont let me edit a 2510 or 3010 driver app So I edited a newer 3351 pcl6 driver and used it for the 2027 and 2510. Thought it worked great, so I walked out the door, but then got a call an hour later because the customer could not print PDF's. Now I am back to page 1, I need to figure out how to edit the original drivers... HELP... Does someone have an edited version already that I can get a copy of???? Thanks

                    Re: Print counter

BTW.. I am only trying to pop up the user code dialog box. I looked at what gets changed by the editor, and it looked simple, so I added this same information/lines of code data to the 2510 driver. But no luck, the box doesn't pop up.
