lol, you must be a father. That sounds like something I would say to my kids if I couldn't read their homework.

Teebee1234 it worked! Got it to print 8 1/2 x 11 without having to go to the screen on the printer. But when I went to print out a spread of two letter sized sheets on a 11 x 17 in the tray 3 it lists that it has 8 1/2 x 11 in that tray. Shouldn't it recognize the larger size automatically? Thanks

You need to go back into the Menu settings for Paper Size, find tray 3 and set it for auto detect or select 11x17 if you don't think anyone will change the paper in the cassette later on to something different. Say someone switches out the 11x17 for 8.5x11 and the cassette is locked in to 11x17 size, as soon as it prints from that cassette it will jam because the printer is looking for the 17in length of paper to pass the sensors. As long as everyone understands (or label the cassette 11x17 with a sticker) then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks. When I go into Menu, hit Paper Input and then it only shows:
            Paper Size: Bypass
            Paper Size: Tray 2
            and then it jumps to:
            Paper Type: Bypass Tray
            Paper Type: Tray 1
            Paper Type: Tray 2
            Paper Type: Tray 3
            AutoTray Select
            Tray Priority

It's not giving me the option of Paper Size for Tray 1 or Tray 3. Any ideas?

What a minute, is tray 3 a 2000 sheet paper feed unit? If so, then that only takes ltr size stacked tandem (there will be gates in the middle front and rear that spring open). Remove all of the paper from tray 3, try and push in the right side of the inner tray while holding the outer handle.Fill the left side with 2 reams of 8.5x11, push it in and wait for the paper to transfer over to the right side. Pull the drawer open, push the right side back in if it comes out and refill the left side with 2 more reams. Put your 11x17 in drawer 2.

Having a hard time printed double sided from Tray 2 on 11 x 17 80 lb coated text. Would run a few sheets then jam. Looked at the paper and saw it was for offset. Any setting I can put the printer on for paper type that can help me with this? The main reason I got the printer is to print a newsletter and having to go thru the bypass defeats the purpose cause it will not do duplex. Also, why from Acrobat 9 on a Mac will it print easier if I have it printing as an image rather than the normal print setting?
