ricoh mpc3000 doc feed issue

the doc feeder on this machine will not pull the paper in with the lid closed, it will if you cheat it with the lid open and it rips it right in..???everythnig appears to be operating properly though,
have watched it run, is there an issue with the pressure on the intake mecanism with the lid shut, and the clutch cant turn it properly? any answers will be gladly appreciated.

I have had a similar problem on this model where the ADF open/up sensor was faulty, Once the adf was loaded and the copy button was pressed, nothing would happen, no motors turned, just threw a jam message. Im not sure if this is the sensor u are cheating as that would rule out my suggestion, however, it may be of some help.

I have seen 1 or 2 clutches in the MPC 3300 DF replaced to get them going with similar fault

replace the feed clutch !

feed roller clean? feed clutch sounds bad but i would replace the feed belt and white foam separation roller also just in case and check the black actuator that swings down on the bottom rear of the adf close to the left hinge
