    LD032c

    First post ....

Problem with a LD032c or AF1232c....the consistantly jams right beneath the reg roller and sensor using both trays and also the bypass. Read the TSB about the black pad that is added to the opposite side of the sensor at the rear door. I didn't have the black pad, so just took a black sharpie and colored it black. This had no affect. Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

    1. Try cleaning the reg roller with damp cloth as they do go really white and smooth with paper dust and don't grip the paper sufficiently.
    2. Try replacing the reg clutch.
    3. Failing that try swapping the first vertical transport clutch around with the second vertical transport clutch and cleaning and greasing the bypass gears.
The second vertical transport clutch is only required for paper feed from the extra tandem tray or trays 3 or 4.
The bypass takes its drive directly from the shaft that the first vertical transport clutch is attached to, hence to much load / torque coming from the bypass can cause problems.

You can also test all the paper feed sensors in the input mode to see if they working or not.

      Thanks

I'll give those a try and will let you know the resolution. As you know the sensor is in the middle of the paper path and each time the paper is underneath the reg roller and sensor. It never even makes it to the sensor, but checking the sensor with the inputs checks could determine if that sensor is seeing the paper... but if the paper never makes it there in the first place...
I was reading about paper dust and it reflecting causing false signals... ever heard of anything like that? I vac'd everything insight! and also blew out that reg sensor too....

Again, thanks for the sounding board DaZ!!

Hello, i do these machines on a daily basis and i can tell you that the problem you are having, or sounds like your having, is the upper transport clutch. These things stick and normally cause the bypass trouble that you are getting (feeds straight in to the reg and jams)

To confirm this, when you get a jam, open the side door down and apply a little pressure to the rollers beneath the reg roller and feel if they give a slight click when turned. If they do its the upper reg clutch.

Another way is to run output check on the upper transport clutch and switch it on and off whilsts turning the rollers by hand ( this will let you feel the action of the clutch on the rollers)

Hope its the clutch im talking about as i have rambled on a bit here.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential
