Ricoh 2022 just waiting displayed

This customer was copying 11X17 when the copier stopped with a copy half way through.
The wrench came up then the customer turned the main switch off then on and the display now reads waiting and stays like that. I think its the hard drive but not sure . Anyone seen this before ?

Seen the 'Please Wait' before and it's usually the HDD, often if you wait long enough you get an SC also but the can take quite some time.

easy enough to check, disconnect hdd and see if it comes to ready.

if it does, reconnect the hard drive. if it will reboot, try reformatting the drive. if that works, be sure to due a major run of 11x17 to see if the problem re-occurs.

If the problem is what I think it is, then you may need to replace the main power supply.
Sorry I have no other solution to give you....
If you have a surplus machine you can borrow parts from then try swapping the main power boards.

Nope its not the power supply

+1 on the hard drive, we had to replace them on a number of machines because of this problem. As mentioned before you can try to disconnect the hdd first to verify.

I tried disconnecting the hdd and the same problem .

'Put it in service mode and scan the sc history to find out what that wrench was for. That should send you down the right path.
