    Ricoh 1180L Fax

Hi all, just installed a ricoh 1180L fax at a customer's site about 2 weeks ago, Jan 14th.

Customer called the other day and mentioned that they haven't received a single fax since it was installed, but told me the memory was full.

I ran through the op manual with her and I skimmed through the service manual to see if I could find a solution, but it wasn't very clear.

The fax reception mode is currently set to Fax out of Manual, Fax and Fax-answ.
Also set to WITH PAPER and not without.

So theoretically, all incoming faxes should be coming through and printed out immediately.

Anyone able to assist? Always appreciated.

If i remember well, in receiving menu it's an option 'print' that you must select in order to get your faxes printed not stocked in memory.

I believe you may possibly be thinking of a different fax, as under the receiving options on this one are

      Manual
      Fax
      Fax-answ.

In that order. Paper options are with and without paper, and one of those options is an immediate memory storage option, whereas the other is an instant print.

Yes, instant print is what i am talking about. First question. When you istalled the fax did you tried it to see if can receive and transmit. Does it worked? Another thing. It happenned to me many times that customer leave the fax with no paper in it. That stuck memory for all faxes get into it.
If you have memory full try to clear all documents stored in memory. I'll tell you how can be done but on SP1000Sf. This model looks like 1180L, but i don't know if service is similar. I don't have SM for your model.
Get in SM with arrow down sign, *,#.
After this in SOS 1 (Soft Switch 1) change bit 8 value from 0 to 1. Bit 8 is first from the left to the right. If you don't change it, you will not be able to erase memory or clear printer error. You also can reset fax to default configuration. All this are in SM, admin Functions, initialising and erase memory.
        I hope this help you.

This one has a full 10 key numeric pad, standard Clear 107 Clear/Stop.

Was tested and could send and receive faxes.

Not sure about the paper aspect, never had a customer NOT put paper in the machine from my experience.

Not to put paper but forget to re-feed after empty tray.
Clear 107 Clear - i think SM are different.
It's a strange thing to receive and print, and after a period not to print. Never happened to me except for situation that i mentioned before ( client forget to replenish paper tray)
Try to connect it at other line where is a fax that works well.

I'm thinking someone was playing around with settings, I walked them through the procedure to change the reception mode over the phone because they're over an hour away.

Haven't called back since, so I'm assuming it's fixed.
