    Fusing Problem

This Ricoh Aficio 350e was having fusing problems so I increased the temperature from 175 to 180, but when I checked the fusing temp. on the display, it said it was at 145. Eventually it did climb up to about 188 before I left but I was wondering if this is a problem with the fuser unit itself or is something else causing the problem? Any help appreciated, thank you.

Could be a thermistor heading south. These machine often dont like 3rd party fuser rollers either.

Check if the thermistor (s) are dirty or defect .
Maybe the thermistor dot make good contact with the hotroller.
Dont make the fuser temp to high because you get a thermostat problem or a sc code ..

Did you check for parts updates to fuser frame/thermistors? Sometimes length/ angle of parts changes their performance and that will lead to SCs and other probs...

Christ with a machine this old I'd say the lamps were on their way out. It is 12 years old after all...
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

Clean or replace the thermistor. It's likely coated or maybe you have something catch between.
