    Ricoh MP C3000 drums

Does anyone know if the color drums for a MP c3000 are interchangeable? They are a different part number, but they look identical. The black drum looks identical too and is $250 cheaper than the color drums. Has anyone tried to swap these?

No, can't say as I have.

Sorta off topic, but the toner is the same. The bottles are slightly different, 3535 & 4540 being slight larger. All my owner had to hear was that the toner was the same and next thing you know, he was only ordered the 3535 toner. Then a customer goes down, needing black toner for a 2525 and they send her a 3535 black. Customer calls back yelling that the bottle doesn't fit.

Anyway, sorry about that. Just venting a little. We never discussed the differences in the drums in school, that I can remember anyway.

They use the same parts but I don't think they are interchange units.

If I remember correctly the connector on the black drum unit is wired differently from the colour drum units.

I think if you look closely, you will find the drum units are
        keyed to each slot.

I believe that they are to a point. I remember that the toner from the 3500/4500 will work on the 2500/3000. Even though each has its own part number.

Yes they are interchangeable but you have to file the connector at the rear end of the black to fit into color socket.

I have swapped color and black PCU's in MP3000

It works both way's also if you are out of Black PCU's you can modify the connector on a color PCU and if your'e out of color PCU's you can modify the connector on a black PCU

You can use K for any colour, but because rear plug is very flimsy I spend an extra couple of mins and change the loom from old to new. Does not seem to alter CQ using K PCU's for all.
