    Ricoh 700 problem

I have an old Ricoh 700 that keeps getting toner on the shield glass. Another tech told me to change all the developer filters and I have done that, but the problem returns within a few days. Can anyone tell me what else could cause this problem? The developer, drum, corona wire and grid are new. Any help much appreciated. TIA

First make sure you put the right developer in the machine and check for a good ground at the outlet and on the drum thumbscerw.

Pull the dev unit and look for wear on the pins at the bak of the Mag Roller (2 on this model??), if worn new roller(s) required. Also inspect the bearing the pin(s) locate into on the rear frame, these used to fail causing bias problems. If you remove the bracket with the bearing from the rear scratch around with a knife first to ensure the new one is in EXACTLY the correct position when refitted as these were jigged at the factory to give the correct gap between drum and mag roller.

I have checked for bias and ground and they are good, so I want to try new mag rollers but customer doesn't to pay for it as they have no contract. Thanx for all the advice.

Did you check the pins on the rear of the Mag Rollers for wear? And the roller bearings they slide into?

The pins on the rear of the mag rollers don't really show wear and the bearings in back look ok. There are tabs that the pins come into contact with for bias and they have good connections. I wish I had another developer housing I could use for troubleshooting but only machine of it's kind I have left.

There was a problem with the relay PCB which sets the upper and lower limits for the drum potential. I can't remember the specific fault, but it may be worth investigating.
