    [Jamming] NASHUATEC DSM645(AFICIO 2045e) showing PAPER JAM at C,D & E

    Dear Seniors,
It's an Aficio NashuaTec DSM645 .my customer called me to start the unit after non usage of about 4 months.I have cleaned the unit both in and out side and turned on the unit and unit started showing paper jam at C,E & D and shows all the accessories like fax tray ,bridge unit and sorter/stapler at the operation panel. However paper jam at C clears after a drill to open and close the right and front doors but E & D are still there.
Whereas there is no fax tray , bridge unit or other accessories attached with this unit.It is a base unit without any accessories.
One of my local seniors advised me to clear all memory and I have do so,but the problem is there .
I have cleaned sensor on exit tray but the problem is still there.

If you can enter the SP mode then use the input check, try to double check the sensors, sensor filler(maybe the spring is out of position so it will not go back to right position), check also the switches. Clean the paper path thoroughly.
        Nobody is perfect..

If it's been sat for a while the interchange unit gates are probably stuck in position. Does any paper make it into the bridge unit or the upper output tray?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

                Costant PAPER JAMS showing at C D & E

machine has no accessories like bridge unit ,finisher or LCT etc but panel shows that there is paper jamming at C D & E ..checked paper paths and sensors which are clear. Even after doing memory all clear it stays there. no change .keep in mind that there is no bridge unit, fax tray or other accessories even ARDF are attched with unit.
It's a basic unit (COPIER) only

Then why don't you take my advice? Check band/flatcable laserunit ! and change safetyswitches above the fuser.

Hang on - you did a memory all clear to sort a jamming problem? Oops. Take the scanner off, look at the interchange unit above the fuser and make sure the soleniods and junction gates are moving properly.

X2. The adhesive melts on the solenoid recoil pads causing them to stick. There is a sensor or two in that unit that could be your problem. Use input check to see which one.

I agree with two on here, the interchange/exit section when you remove the scanner unit has solenoids with little "pads" and those pads get sticky. You can feel the gate stick slightly when you move them by hand above the fuser. They cause just enough of a timing delay to cause jams. It is actually very common on machines of an older age like that one. Also the Micro switches on the front right side of the machine are located behind a fan and they tend to go out as well. Normally you get false open door conditions associated with them, but that's where I would go next after removing all the pads on the exit section. I have had to do that on several machines in the field and nine times out of ten it fixed it. The "ten" time it was the actual solenoid that wasn't firing right causing the problem.
