I have SPC420 colour printer, with print qaulity issues, I have attached samples, the PCU's have been chagned. Any Ideas

That looks laser or memory related to me. Have you tried reseating the memory DIMM's on the controller board and reformatting the HDD? Does the customer use the correct shutdown procedure at night or just drop the machine? I've had HDD's and controllers killed this way. Try a single colour test print on call four colours and see if any drift, that'd lead you to a laser issue.

I agree with you on Laser, but I'll try the HDD, and memory stuff.

SPC420Colour.pdfJust checked the machine has no memeory or HDD, I'm going to try the laser. I have attached colour examples this time, see how it's stretching the image, on the PCL config page

Just before you try a laser, if you can find the birth certificate check the laser SP's, see if any have changed. I'd be surprised if a laser has failed.

Not sure if you re-calibrate the laser's like you do on this model like the MFD's, but might be something to try.

funny symptome - at least the edge erase does still work^^

Besides checking the Dimm/HDD I'd recommend to perform an entire NV-Ram initialisation (backup data via sd card first) - maybe worth a try

The actual samples have no edge erase, i think thats the Kyocera MFD I used to scan them, there is no extra memory or HDD in this box, and the laser looks a nightmare to remove. I'll try all then connections on the Main PWB, and HV PWB etc. and then maybe NVRAM

Yeah I believe (from an SPC420DN) you pretty much have to take EVERYTHING out of this machine before you get to the supple nectar of the Laser Unit (And be careful with the Ribbon Cable for the Laser Unit too!).

Try the simpler routes first before going for the biggie (i.e. HDD, RAM, NVRAM etc)

Will do, the machine has no contrract on it, so I will have to be careful with the man hours on this, a replacement machine will be more viable than if the laser needed changing

I'd probably agree with you on that one. You'll be looking at an hour easily for the Laser unit if you haven't done one before (It was the first call I had on one of these models), that's not including the cost of the part as well!

you may also try replacing the intermediate transfer belt and the Charge Roller unit as well as the Fusing unit for the device.
