    Limiting colour on MPc3001

    Hi

I have a client who wanted to limit colour for her user. I seach on driver but only PcL6 & 5 are available. Can not limiting colour for MPC3001 . For me I know on Mpc3000 there are driver RCPS that can limiting colour. Are driver RCPS compatible with MPc3001.

    Thanks.................

RPCS drivers are (officially) nor more longer developed/supported for new machines and generally "discontinued". Therefore Ricoh put more efforts in the PCL6 driver to improve the feautures/usability.

An easy way to monitor the color printing behaviour of different users/departments is to work with unique account numbers/(software)key counters wich can be done "out of the box".

Unfortunately I don't know how to set up some kind of color contingent to make it impossible to print more than xx pager per day/week/month/whatever...

The RPCS Driver isn't available for the MPC3001. I believe it's not supported anymore.

You can achieve what your client wants with the PCL5/6 Driver.

Create a User Code on the machine in question. Limiting Printing to Black and White only. Enable User Access Control (I haven't worked on Ricoh devices for a couple of months now, so I can't remember if it's PC:CONTROL you select or not, you'll have to experiment) You can then enter this code on the Driver for users who should not print Colour (In properties, there's a User Code tab, you'll want to enter this on "Printing Preferences" and "Printing Defaults".

Sorry I can't clarify more, I hope I've given a brief explanation on what needs to be done. Maybe someone could expand on this?

As far as I know, you can't limit to a specific amount, you can only enable or block Colour printing for specific users.

Some of the newer machines have a Java app that can limit the number of pages a user can print in colour or in general. You may want to look to see if that's available for this model.

user quota can now be set with this model(job limits and page limits). if you want to restrict the color printing then set it in the user authenitcation management and address book

You can use the Print Editor. I've only used it to create popup windows for users to enter user codes, but you can use it to block color printing.

just a note - I've only got it to work on the PCL5 on the latest drivers.
