What would cause intermittent lightness in the center of a print from a Savin 4035? The customer first told us that this was happening on both copying and printing, but when we went out the next day they said it only happened on prints, so we are not certain as to when it happens. We couldn't duplicate there problem either. The outside edges of the copy are fine, besides some shadow they get on one side from time to time, but the center is light. If anyone has seen a problem like this before, please let me know what can be done to reslove it, thank you for your help.

First thing to check is the slit glass in the laser unit, pull it out and check/clean. Could also be the doctor blade in the dev unit is blocked or the plastic cover over the mag roll is warped/damaged and scraping the brush down. The shadow could very well be the mag roll is filmed over, pull out the dev unit and brush away the dev material covering the mag roll - if it's coated black (this generally starts on the ends darker and fades in to the middle), then pm with new developer and scrub/replace the mag roller. -
Remove the dev unit, remove the cover in front of the mag roller. Is the white filter in the centre of the unit missing? I bet the last tech vacuumed the unit, sucked up the filter, didn't notice and you have toner puffing onto the centre of the slit glass (?)Comment

The seal on the dev unit that is held in by the two white clips being deformed can also cause this fault. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment
