have you cleaned the slit glass and laser unit?

have you cleaned the mag roller on the development unit

Also check the top cover of the dev unit, the seal against the mag roller gets worn over time and starts scraping developer off the mag roller causing all kinds of strange light areas. There was a bulletin about this posted for the MP 4500.

If it is the laser filter glass, also make sure your dev filter is seated properly and not blowing out onto the slit glass.
