    1035 ricoh. Repeated light copies in center of page

    I've gone to this machine for maintenance on this problem. The slit glass is clean and has had a recent developer change.

          Can you post a sample from the scanner (sky shot) and an internal test page?

            Is the machine caught up on its PM cycle for the drum, charge and transfer? I have seen two cases where there is slight toner buildup in the laser unit. There is a tiny piece of glass under a metal shield just after the laser diode that can get toner on it and you can usually only see the buildup when its removed. Be careful though because its sometimes tricky to get back into the unit without scratching it. I would also take out the glass in the scanner unit and clean the optic mirrors and the lens block as well. Dust on those will cause light copies as well.

              Dust on optic mirrors(scanner unit) will cause background and lines on copies. But it is better to clean when you have copy quality problem.

                You are correct but I am as well because if it is a light coating of dust that is pretty even like you would get in a dirty environment then it will cause light spots on the copies in this situation. If you have a solid patch of black you are trying to copy it will create white or light lines. If there is a lot of dust on the mirrors then the white or lighter lines becomes a white streak creating a light copy if its bad enough. I should have specified that more but it is actually common in very dirty environments such as UPS or FEDEX facilities, machine shops, etc.

                  try to make a print if it is ok maybe is the mirror, if doesn't it could be umidity of paper;
                  or bush developer roller, remind that this machine has got many problems of over toner so you need to adjust the td id sensor

                    If its scanner related, dirty optics will cause feint copies, but also remember to clean the white reflective plate that sits on the scan glass, as if this is dirty the scanner pre check will compensate for the dirt on the plate and lighten up the area that it sees as a dark patch.
                    Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

                      make sure the lower OPC frame middle latch is snapped in place (the little plastic tab in the middle of the lower frame, under the drum). if it isn't it will cause that problem.
                      Don't take that toner with me!
