Hi all, I am new this this forum. I have a 3800c but it has a couple of problems, first is I have error code SC261. I have no idea what this is can anyone help please. Also I am not sure if the hard drive is working is there a test of similar I can carry out. Hope someone can help. Dave.

SC261 is a home position detection error.
The laser diode for 'K' has two phyical positions it moves between for writing.
So it could be a faulty home position sensor, faulty motor, blown internal fuse (FU81) or it could just be stuck (try wheeling the printer around the office it may come free).
For the harddrive just print off the config sheet.
It will show up near the top as installed if it's being seen by the controller.
Or just try sending a locked print to test the harddrive out.- Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

Hi Daz, thanks for the info. Its not easy wheeling a monster like this around a small office, but it has got rid of the error notice. Not sure if it was anything I did but it has printed some 500 sheets since. So thanks. Dave
