[Electrical] MPC3000 with a couple of problems

I've got a Ricoh MPC3000 with a couple of problems. They don't seem to be related, but I'd like to know if any of you guys and girls ever got any of this:

    - First off the operation panel LCD backlight doesn't turn on. Customer says it's been like this for some time (it's a new customer for us) and that a different panel from a similar machine they have has been tried and the problem persisted with the other panel.
I've checked the cablings and connectors and everything seems to be okay. I've measured all the fuses I could find on the Bicu and the Operation Panel's Inverter Board and they also measure ok.

    - Secondly the machine now gives an SC202 error - polygon motor. I'm temped to order a polygon motor, but since the polygon and the operation panel are both driven by the same board (the Bicu) it got me thinking if I could have a damaged Bicu.

Is there any way of testing the Bicu without having to order the board? Or, at least, has anyone got a situation like this happen to him who can tell me with some certainty if it is the Bicu or something else?

An aditional question: I could only find 2 fuses on the Bicu. Is this right or am I missing something?

    Cheers!

Could be a direct 5v or 12v line fault from the PSU

I have encountered the same problem and I replaced the polygon mirror motor and BICU as a pair.

When you press the touch panel you can hear click sound, right? When you press the ten key buttons it responds as well. The only thing is there is no backlight on the LCD screen. You can see the error code SC 202 through WIM.Is this what happened to your machine?

What I did was I replaced both BICU and polygon motor at one time and the problem was resolved.

Exactly, although I can see the 202 error on the LCD by pointing a strong flashlight at it.

Also, did you try first to replace just the polygon and/or the bicu before replacing them both?

If you're talking about the wall outlet, it's fine - the machine's at our shop. The symptoms are the same here as they were at the customer's.

Try to disconnect the Polygon Motor and see what happens, does it bring the backlight back on?

Nice thought, I'll try that as I get the chance!

I had disconnected the connectors in the laser unit but same problem.I had tried to replace the polygon mirror motor using old BICU but no luck.I never tried to replace the BICU using the old polygon motor because when the polygon motor is shorted it damages the BICU.Replace them both to be sure.

was this ever resolved? I have the exact same problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Polygon Motor error - check for pinched wire in laser unit harness behind fax option ( if installed )

Polygon Motor error - replace BICU if CN520 has no trigger on pin 3

Polygon Motor error - replace Polygon Mirror Motor

The Bicu board flakes and causes all sorts of issues....

Make sure you post back with the result.

I never gave any feedback as that machine got out of my hands onto a colleague's. But I believe the problem was solved by replacing both the BICU and the Polygon motor.
