    Savin 2522

I was told I posted this in Canons forum???

    Savin 2522
I'm having a problem with wrinkling the paper single sided 11x8.5. 8.5x11R no problem. Fuser rollers are new. Moved 11x8.5 from drawer #2 to drawer #3. Usually flipping paper takes care of problem as well as new paper; however customer doesn't accept it as a paper problem. When it happens it happens alot however is intermittent. Any thoughts appreciated

Clean up the entrance guide to the fuser unit, can cause paper to wrinkle if it snags on toner build up

It's a humid time of year and wet paper will can cause this. I would suggest take a fresh ream of paper with you and run it in the machine with the customer watching. If no wrinkling, your duty is done. If the customer is unwilling to use good paper, that's their problem, not yours.

What's the status, age and meter on your fuser? When the pressure roller gets worn the sponge inside can break down and not apply even pressure on the paper as it's past through.

But first I would start with paper and make sure the customer is not adding fresh paper to the top of the paper trays. Make sure they FIFO(first in first out) the paper in the trays by putting the oldest paper on top of the newest paper. I had an account that had a similar issue and I went through all the trouble of rebuilding a fuser, pulling one from another known good machine at the account and everything, only to find out they didn't run the trays out of paper and randomly refilled the trays with fresh paper on top of old paper. Eventually, they got to the paper on the bottom and had wrinkling and sometimes jamming in the fuser.

Also make sure the part of the lower case that locates the hot roller bearings isn't cracked or broken off. If the hot roller is shifting around it can cause a similar issue with the wrinkling. You can replace the G0524618 bearings with the AE030047 bearings from the 35/45 ppm machines that have the retaining ring on them. The ring will then rest on the much stronger metal bracket, instead of the flimsy, brittle and plastic lower case.

Good point. I've seen that, too.

Ditto on the fuser entrance guide. A tiny build-up will catch the edge of the paper and make that side hesitate. Duplexing may cause the build-up, as the hot guide pulls toner off the copied side.
