    SC195 on Ricoh 3260c

I am working on a Ricoh 3260c. I changed teh NVRAM now the machine has an SC195 error. I am an independent technician and need to get my customer back up and working. I have heard that there is some way to reset this error code.

    Any help?

good luck working on a machine that needs a certified tech to keep it running. These are great boxes but are very high maintenence. I am assuming that you do not have a manual to tell you what the code is or causes. I am sorry but at this time I cant assisst you because I dont know if you really are a tech or if you are actually a end user that didnt pay his service contract and now is in a bind and cant get out of it.

The new NVRAM you fitted is missing the machine's serial number.
You need to re-enter it using the factory service mode.

A trained tech with the equivalent skill level should know how to do that so I won't bore you with details.

        I have the manuals

I have the manual for this machine but there appears no way to enter the serial number. I spoke to a former Ricoh tech and he said that he remembers that there is some special code that is needed. He said it was different than the c 107 access. Can anyone help? Some here offered to sell me a service manual, but I have one, is the one that is being sold have different information?

Nope not in the manual. Can you give me the page number that you found the answer? Under the NVRAM replacement procedures in section 3.14.3 there is the following note:

Important! WHEN SC195 OCCURS, THE SERIAL NUMBER MUST BE INPUT. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR.

This leads me to believe that there is some special way to enter the serial number. You state the procedure is in the manual, can you give the a page or section number?

you need two chapters-sc and sp. service codes will tell you what to check and level of code to clear. Service program chapter tells you how and how to navigate the service program mode of the machine. I wont tell you how to get in because if you dont have a manual with sp settings then you could really f*&*k up the machine. Sorry.

I have the complete manual with the SP and SC. Based on further information that I have received there is a special code to reset as this is related to the conterfeit information.

If you do not have the code why not just say so? I am just looking for a little help and thought that the group here would know the information. Someone tried to sell me a service manual and when I asked if this specific information was in the manual before I purchased it, he back down stating that it was not. Why try to sell me a manual if the information I need is not listed. How hard is it just to give me the information?

I believe that code can only be given by the Ricoh tech support. The number they give you may or may not work. If it doesn't then not only will the machine not work, but the secret service will be involved after you talk to tech support

If you looked in the manual-it states to contanct hotline-which has changed to contacting your regional representative. There you have it-call a liscensed dealer.

Found the access somewhere else. You have to enter the production mode to reset. Customer is back up and working and happy.
Thanks for the no help here.

until two weeks from now when it breaks down again.

I know this is an old thread that I stumbled on tonight but I had to comment. copiertech1980 I am happy to see that you found the special service mode access to reprogram the serial #. Boards like this are to help people like copiertech1980 that was having a problem and looking for assistance from other techs that might have had the problem in the past. The problem is that you have people like jeffreyozz that don't have the experience or the knowlegde to help with the problem but feel the need to run thier mouth about not being an authorized dealer. I think that jeffreyozz should get himself a life and leave boards like this to people that are looking for help and those that can provide help.

I work for a manufacturer and dont worry about unauthorized techs taking customers from us. We will lose customers to them and we will get new customers from them-thats how it goes. There are plenty of customers for all!

Thats right....the thread is 4 years old and you stuck your beak in. it was never about churn...it was about the customer doing something that they had no clue about at the time. You need to get a life and stop cruising old posts. I dont work on copiers anymore....t.g.....but your smug post pissed me off enough to reply.
