Recently encountered mp 161 ran past "add toner" to end of toner count stoppage. Reset "end of toner" in SP mode causes indicator to go off, but only allows 40-50 documents before add toner comes on again. 2214 and developer churn ran after "end toner" reset; still allows less than 50 pages before add toner alarm. Software current. Software reset also tried to no avail.

Re: MP 161 End of toner non-reset, lockout
How many's the PCU done? Could be time for a new one. Possibly a new toner hopper too. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: MP 161 End of toner non-reset, lockout
thanks, guys. Removed end plate and tried to rotate developer drive (fairly loose); drum rotates OK, but the exposed gear that opens the new drum detect contacts does not move at all. Does anyone have an after market source for the developer unit; Ricoh no longer sales the PCU.Comment

Yeah they do, the MP171 and MP201 both take the same PCU's, and toner. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
