[CQ] MP 161 End of toner non-reset, lockout

Recently encountered mp 161 ran past "add toner" to end of toner count stoppage. Reset "end of toner" in SP mode causes indicator to go off, but only allows 40-50 documents before add toner comes on again. 2214 and developer churn ran after "end toner" reset; still allows less than 50 pages before add toner alarm. Software current. Software reset also tried to no avail.

How many's the PCU done? Could be time for a new one. Possibly a new toner hopper too.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

thanks, guys. Removed end plate and tried to rotate developer drive (fairly loose); drum rotates OK, but the exposed gear that opens the new drum detect contacts does not move at all. Does anyone have an after market source for the developer unit; Ricoh no longer sales the PCU.

Yeah they do, the MP171 and MP201 both take the same PCU's, and toner.

Thats ok, it only moves once, if the drum unit is brandnew
