This is true, however it still puzzles me that they can do this. Under the Sale Of Goods Act 1979, Schedules section 1, paragraph 5, the goods must be "of merchantable quality." You could argue that none of Ricoh's products meet this criteria!

I find that odd - if a given consumable part is rated for at least 40k copies, and it fails to do it - even worse, it fails to reach 40k on several units - then they should, at least, reimburse (sp?) the difference (let's say it dies at 20k copies, they should give back credit of 50% of the unit price), that not taking into account the road trip and time to do it.

They used to, now they don't. They have to pay for Ikon somehow!

Developer Gear Kit 5Pcs for Ricoh Aficio 1515

I buy these kits for $150.00 for 10 kits less than the cost of a new type1515 also works on the MP301, takes about 15 to 30 minutes to replace the gears has saved $$$$$$
Kinda got tired of these failing at 20K-25K I get 50K to 60K on maybe half of the ones that I've done a gear overhaul.

Nice to know, but you didn't show where you are ordering them from.
