    [Electrical] ricoh 3035 backgrounding issue

hi everyone, i have a ricoh 3035 with grainy copies, but i hve replaced all the innards,,LOL
drum,dv,chrg roller, tranny belt, cleaned the drm contacts, made sure the charge roller WAS touching the metal contacts in the drum unit, adjusted the trns vlt, no diff, adusted the dv volt, no dif,
no adjustment has any effect, also ran it out of toner to de tonerize it mabey it was over toning, no diff,
could this be the HV board, or a short (my guess) somewhere in the contacts?
any ideas would be helpful, thanks

Bearing in mind everything you've tried already I think the only place left to go is the HV board. I don't see it being anything to do with the laser.

Is the background the same type as you get with a worn drum? Because that would possibly indicate that there is a deficient charge being applied to the drum. Another thing to consider I've had a few weird faults before (not with this particular model admittedly) with CQ issues that looked like background but were more like corrupted random bits in the background due to faulty RAM.

Did you give the mag roller a good scrubbing?

Also check that the discharge lamps are coming on. If not, residual charge will build up and pull developer.

its can be a transfer roller problem

chq the fixing assembly, the metal rod in the fixing might be dirty or the, ibt blade

                Re: ricoh 3035 backgrounding issue

The TC (toner concentration) in the development unit is too high.
The factors of this condition are as follows:
                - It can occur more easily in low humidity and low temperature conditions.
                - It can occur more easily when the print volume is high.
                - It can occur more easily when a lot of one-to-one prints are made.
                - It can occur more easily when a lot of paper dust is contained in the recycled toner.
                - It can occur more easily when the print has high image coverage.

The process in which the problem occurs is as follows:
TC becoming high is caused by the above factors => Accelerates the "Toner Filming" on the development roller => Toner over toning, dirty background.
                TEMPORARY SOLUTION

To reduce the TC in the development unit and generation time of this problem to be delayed, change the development bias as follows:
                - Increase the development bias for ID sensor pattern to reduce the toner concentration.
                - Increase the development bias to increase the image density.
                REQUIRED ACTION IN THE FIELD

When this issue occurs, please perform the following procedure.
                1. Before changing the development bias,
                - Replace the Developer
                - Clean the development roller surface
                - Clean the recycled toner pathway in the PCU. (Refer to the following procedure for more detail)

                2. Make the following SP mode changes:
                - SP2201-01 (Development Bias): From 560 to 660
                - SP2201-02 (Development Bias for ID sensor pattern): From 400 to 500
                - SP2001-01 (Charge Roller Bias): Increase the setting by 100
                - SP2001-02 (Charge Roller Bias for ID sensor pattern): Increase the setting by 100

                  Re: ricoh 3035 backgrounding issue

i agree with lupl, but would like to add that those developers usually come overtoned form the factory.

i typically, after installing new developer to these models (b079 developer) before i run td initial, would run about 25-30 sky shots, to bleed the toner levels down to a Vsg of between .25 and .35, THEN run TD Init. then run about 20 copies, and make sure Vsg stays roughly there, then run ID init, and youre machine should run background free, and much cleaner over the course of that PM.

by the way, do this with the toner bottle removed, and add it back only after td is done.

this can also recover existing developer as well.

background can also be caused by bad dv grounding, but i believe that was covered earlier in the post
