    Ricoh Aficio 3228C

I have a issue with skew on print mode . It shows up mostly on 11x17 from end to end about 0.75mm . bottom hash marks are square. I am not extremely familiar with ricohs (sharp/konica tech). the customer reciently moved the machine to its present location it did have this problem before relocating according to them. I have checked all the trays..drives..rollers ect the skew is the same on print or copy mode. Is it the laser? what adjustment should I do first before I go too far forward? lead edge registration is close (other than the skew). duplex skew shows the bottom right lead edge on hash mark.

thanx for your help on this, Arnie

    Hm.

Mechanical skew and jam type issues are extremely difficuly to troubleshoot sight unseen...

That said, you don't need to read about my difficulties...

    I would (in this order):
    • Clean the registration roller
    • Check Transfer Belt, PCU & Drum seating
    • Check TB Attraction Roller seating

    My name Peggy.
    You got problem?

You will need to determine if the skew is mechanical (paper twisting) or process (laser). Check feed from all drawers and bypass, try increasing paper buckle slightly. Attached is the procedure for adjusting alignment of the individual colors after you correct any mechanical issues. As stated above, this can be a tough issue to resolve if you don't have a lot of field experience with this particular family of devices.

hi huntington beach!!! I grew up in huntington park. lol went surfing alot way back when.
Both of these guys are on the money with their responses. I'm wondering if your skew issue is apparent on b/w copies? if its ok there and only happening in color then you want to try your color alignment or "line position ajustment"" in mode 5. there is also a color registration ajstmnt in "user tools". if your b/w picture is also affected than try swapping t-belt units if possible to eliminate a mechanical problem and clean yr reg roller and all paper path rollers too. A thanx to "Teebee" for sending you the tech data. Good Luck Arnie, focus on the copier not all those beautiful calif girls @ the beach LOL

Hi Arnie, The fact that your skew is happening on both color and b/w steers me into a mechanical cause issue. You can always perform "line position ajstmnt" in mode 5 of the service mode. if you are having t-belt issues you will get a "failed to perform" mssg. I have had several of these problems with 3245c ricohs the cure is to remove and clean the INSIDE of the belt and all the rollers especially the large rubber drive roller. if the belt is really worn it could have stretched and be slipping anyways. I'm going by yr orig post that you have cleaned all paper path and duplexer rollers already. Check mr. Teebee's post and there is an attchmnt you can open and print frm for color registration. ANOTHER thought i had is that i have seen the fuser unit cause this type of effect too as the paper may not be tracking correctly there and causing that skew only on your long paper, you could generate a test print selecting 11x17 full color 1.grid R and use that to help you narrow it down. I'd try a different fuser if possible.
Good Luck with it and let us know what you find. this IS a difficult prob, so hang tuff.
