Aficio 1022 message ...replacement is now necessary for flash rom

Received call this afternoon and a little difficult to understand customer with heavy accent but sounded like he had message in display flashing--replacement is now necessary for flash rom. Does this sound familiar to anyone and does a memory card need to be replaced or firmware updated or some kind of reset. Any assistance is very much appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

I've never seen/heard of that message. I'm fairly confident that if the internal battery died on the rom then you would at least have the wrench displayed along with an SC code. Did the customer state whether or not the device was still functioning? If so, then I'm with Mess on this one. If the customer is some travel distance, maybe you can talk them into taking a picture of the display and emailing it to you.

The info I got this morning is that the message is ...Flash rom replacement is necessary for the quick dial cable. The machine is working and is used as copier and printer. Maybe something needs to be disconnected? I don't have a clue. Or should updating firmware take care of this or what about software reset? Frank

              Details
flash rom quick dial is displayed
              Answer
upload address book to sd card sp 5-846-051 then clear sp 5-846-050 and try to download with sp 5-846-052
              OR

disconnect MCU battery for 1 min, reseat MCU, SP 5-846-003 to 150, do sp 5-846-050 (which also clears address book)

Thanks for your help Mess. I made a mistake it was dial table not cable. The flashing is really the alternating message at the top left of screen where it says "call for service" then the message and then "contact" etc.
I stopped there as I was in area this afternoon but boss was not in and could not get commitment for a service call so I did nothing but look at display.Frank
