    i think you can put any HDD in the machine since it only will operate 80gb. When you have installed the HDD do a format on it.

      Can someone please post the quick instructions for formatting an HDD?

      Sorry to keep sounding so clueless, but the admin and user manuals are unhelpful with this.

        go to service mode
        press: yellow-->1--->0--->7--->red and hold red unitl the screen changes

        then go to copier service mode (first panel)

        then press sp5-xxx

        then go to: 5832

        chose all and confirm with #

        ---> done

          You don't have to load any HDD software on Ricohs.

          I'd start by reformatting the HDD - just be aware that this is usually (but not always) only a temporary fix if it works.

          Yellow "Clear Modes" button, 1-0-7 then hold the red "Clear/Stop" button until the screen changes. Select "System Settings" on the LCD. Enter "5832 #" & press "Execute". When it's completed reboot using the main power switch on the left side of the front cover.

          Your NIC settings aren't stored on the HDD, so you should be OK printing. You will lose all of your Address Book settings & your stamp data (Service Program 5853).
