    MP C4500

We have been asked to install and look after 1x MPC4500 and 1xMPC3500, we have not sold Ricoh for quite a few years, the last course i did at Ricoh was the aficio 4006 , we mainly work on Konica Minolta and Kyocera now.
I have downloaded the service manual from Tessa, but if any one could give me the heads up as to what to expect with these machines that would be appreciated. Firmware is at 1.65

    Cheers.

Good machines I've had no major problems with them yet (we roughly have 100 or so on contract).
Their print quality is consistent and everything pretty much runs to yield or over.

I did do my first ITB belt replacement on this model due to a tear last week which occured at 350k.
And I've had a waste toner coil clog up on a drum unit once, but that's about it.
Everything else has been routine PM stuff.

Your system firmware is pretty up to date, I think the newest posted on TESSA is v1.66.

I did this not too long ago... was my third week into the job as well as my first colour machine I repaired out in the field :\ it's very rare too!

As for these machines, not a lot is going to jump out of the blue. They're actually my favourite Ricoh colour machine. I have had a PSU board blow while the machine was fairly new, but this could have been down to the customer.

Yeah as I said, very good machines, my most favourite colour machine out of the lot You just may notice some teething problems with boards, but once that's out the way they're very sturdy machines. All the call outs I've been to for them have just been for PM intervals, or the customer doesn't know how to do something. Never a fault with the machine.

Amazing machine customers hardly seen you.

The power supplys fo just go for no reason but apart from that the faults are normally customer issues like the 4th paper guide pops out of place and a guide in the df breaks ocassionally.

Apart from that like Daz says just pm issues and the K pcu unit will easily do 220k before your likely to see it.

We have quite a few in innner city schools unlocked and used by pupils unattended and they even survie this

                Forget what I said.

I just had to strip one down to the frame today to fix a laser shutter error (SC290 / 293).
Not a job for the faint hearted LOL.

I hope you didn't do all that to get to the Laser unit... that's accessed from the right hand side :P

I've already done a laser unit replacement before on another MPC that was real easy.

Nah I needed to get to the laser shutter motor and it's sensors which are located behind the reg roller.
But rather annoyingly getting access to the area behind is abit of a hassle.

Here is the procedure as described in the SM.

                    1. All PCUs (* "p.159 "PCU"")
                    2. Image transfer belt unit (* "p.174 "Image Transfer Belt Unit"")
                    3. Rear cover (* "p.125 "Rear Cover"")
                    4. Right rear cover (* "p.126 "Right Rear Cover"")
                    5. Controller box (* "p.254 "Controller Box"")
                    6. Third duct (* "p.166 "Third Duct Fan"")
                    7. Left cover (* "p.125 "Left Cover"")
                    8. PSU bracket (* "p.259 "PSU"")
                    9. Gear unit (* "p.189 "Gear Unit"")
                    10. Image transfer belt contact motor (* "p.199 "Image Transfer Belt Contact Motor")
                    11. Registration motor (* "Registration Motor")
                    12. Duplex unit (* "Duplex Unit")
                    13. Paper guide plate 1 and 2 (* "Registration Sensor")
                    14. Front right cover (* "Operation Panel")
