strange waste toner case is full

hi to all,

its with my aficio 450. i already cleaned the waste toner case including the sensor in the transfer unit but a message "waste toner case is nearly full" appears
and after a few hundred copies "waste toner case is full appears" even though the waste toner case is empty.
i had to memory clear it 5801 to make it disappear but after 5801 "waste toner case is nearly full" still appears.
i tried replacing the whole transfer unit but it's still the same.
please help. thank you

Check properly the waster toner sensor terminal whether it has good contact.Clean it properly.A poor electrical connection between the WasteTonerWaste Toner Almost Full

Wow, doing a memory clear to sort something as simple as a dirty sensor or out of position terminal. Memory clears are not something to do as a matter of course, only a last resort. Especially on a machine that's 13 years old.

I'm still surprised how many techs just perform a Memory All Clear for solving paper jams, defective sensors etc. And they all easily do it on the big color machines, without making a backup to an SD-card, really no problem it seems.

I was always told to use this only as a last resort when the machine behaves erratic, or when there are problems with the NVRAM.

Aye, same here. It's funny how these techs wouldn't give a member of their family a frontal lobotomy either, but they would reduce an MPC6501 to the same state.

by the way this threat pertained to sensor in transfer unit it has 3 terminal detect that 3 as on he say one of our frueinden are already conjucted firmly with 3 terminal which found in machine chassis . the sensor some times slugish or coated with isolated layer scratch this layer with smoother then assemble in his position and try....

I agree,(I think) clean and adjust the finger contacts on the transfer unit and right hand door.

You can also turn detection off and just make sure and clean it out every PM call... That's much better than a memory clear.

Turning off the waste sensor in SP2960 should fix that problem.

I guess you'd rather perform a Memory All Clear then? In the 25 years I've worked on Ricoh products I have never seen an accurate overflow sensor, why do you think the cleaning blade got modified years ago?? You dig deeper and I'll turn the sensor off and PM the machine when required.

5801 is another way of saying I dont know wtf is wrong with this machine. There was a TSB on this that suggested replacing the contacts on the side of the transfer unit to resolve that problem. In my 40 years of working on copiers I always try solve a problem rather than cover it up. I just dont believe in "lemons" only lazy technicians.

Is the lazy technician the one that needs to have it on or the one who turns it off and empties it out on every PM call?.. I don't think either one is "lazy" myself... just different ways of solving an issue to the clients satisfaction.
