    ricoh mpc 3500 lines

    Hello,
I am getting this line ( black) on all colors running in the feed direction all the way through the page even through the void areas, when I start a job the line does not occur until about three to ten copies. I thought it might be the black drum unit but I'm still getting the line, when I replaced the drum unit the charge roller assembly was damaged so I had to use the old charge assembly. I cannot see it on the transfer unit and the fixing assembly looks good. The line looks choppy on the page kind of like small dots and dashes could there possibly be something on the laser slit glass, I cleaned it with the wand but no change. When I run the machine with single colors it does it on all colors. Thanks

Replace the black pcu again or at least the charge roller with a good one, that is where your problem is (the magic words are "when I replaced the drum unit the charge roller assembly was damaged so I had to use the old charge assembly" . Did you clean the original charge roller before you put it into the new one? The black pcu is always in contact with the ITB, that is why is shows up on the color outputs. Any contamination on the laser slit glass will give you a void/light area, not a line. If you don't have a charge roller handy then you can temporarily swap it with the yellow one as the line will be less obvious to the customer. But the first thing you should do is clean the charge roller thoroughly and try it again.

^^^this^^^ its the charge roller more than likely. u cant get just the charge roller for these machins though, so youll have to put in a whole new pcu or take the roller out and clean it with water.

        Thanks Guys,
that fixed the problem! I placed the charge roller from the broken frame to the good frame and all is good! I have one more question, the machine is also telling me that the black and cyan toners need to be replaced soon and they were recently added, the customer says its been like this for awhile. Any suggestions. Thanks
