Scanning from Ricoh 1515 mfp to windows xp folder

hello, i know its a network printer
but i currently have it connected to a computer via USB cable.
i want to know how to scan from windows scanning wizard. it detects my HP officejet 4500
but it doesn't detect the Ricoh 1515 as a scanner.

what can i do? i've searched for scan driver and can't find one.
I DO NOT have the option to connect it to network so please help me to scan from windows scanning wizard.

    thank you.

wow that's really disappointing. this is such a basic feature.
I've heard a tip from a friend that said that maybe i can connect the printer with a LAN cable
      directly to the PC.
can you assist me how to do it if it's possible?

      thanks.

Scan to folder will not work on the 1515 without a middleware programme called ScanRouter, which is no longer supported by Ricoh. The easiest scanning method on this model is scan to email as network TWAIN is often blocked by firewalls and ScanRouter always introduced its own headaches.

When this machine was developed Ricoh hadn't started using their current Unix-based embedded OS, which gave the machines Samba for direct access to share folders.

use a cat5/6 crossed cable, then on the lan, you should make the ip addresses of the devices(pc/mfp) static.

and what version do i need to download?

but how do i get starting with scanning to my computer via USB?

Ricoh MFPs do not support scan via USB as they use Samba as their default transmission method: only network scanning is supported. Keep in mind these machines are designed with the intent of being used by multiple users and not as a personal device.

Another alternative is Scan-to-E-mail if it fits in you necessities.
