    [Misc] Ricoh mp c2800

False toner empty message for the black. it starts working when i disabled toner end detect, but is light, new developer worked for a day (must be because there is already toner mixed with new developer), but came back. If i manually load toner in developer unit it works for a coupe dozen copies.

This leaves me to believe the toner pump is shot, does anyone have the part number?

Side note, Ricoh made these pumps easy to remove, compared to a 3245 that is, so they must know the pumps go bad.

    MPC2800 toner pumps-

    BK D0293221
    M D0293204
    C D0293203
    Y D0293202

The bk and yellow pumps are interchangeable with each other as are the cyan and magenta (the angle of the toner intake nozzles are different between the two pair). The hose is included (which all have different lengths), hence the different numbers. You could carry one bk and one cyan and that would cover all 4 in the future.

This is a known issue, see attached Service Bulletin.

The Black pump part number posted by teebee1234 is correct, however the color units have newer part numbers, which can be found in the attached bulletin.

My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

Do you think i can install a black pump as a replacement for the cyan even though the angle are different?

No, otherwise the toner will be pouring out at an angle and completely miss. I.e. creating a big mess.

I have tried to put in one pump for another location and then shorten the hose. Lesson learned. Never again. Each end is flared out and will go over the fitting with some pushing. You cut that end off to shorten the hose and you are in for a major fight trying to get the shorten hose over the fitting. What can work (although I don't necessarily recommend it) is that you take the existing hose, make sure it is cleaned out instead of being clogged up and use that with a new pump that may not necessarily match up with what you are replacing (IE using a black pump for yellow).

the toner pumps are pretty common I had one machine blow all 4 within a week, 2 were out the first visit 2 days later a third, the 4th might have been good but i didnt want to come back so i just replaced it to.

My advice if its a customer and under contract just get the correct pump, i dont waste my time or the customers time repeating visits because of trying to rig parts in.

Do it right, sleep well at night.

                Re: Ricoh mp c2800

Hi guys. I have the same problem with BK for my device. The strange thing is that my MPC2800 behaves little not the same but I think the cause is "same route". Now I'm controlling the toner leftovers manually, and when it's less than 10% i just swap bottles, and pour in, all leftovers to a new bottle. Of course, I turned off "end of toner" detection. But if my workers before printing, forget to check how much toner is in bottle, and printer suck all what's left, then it's done for good. When I change not empty bottles it's fine and working fine. But if it's suck all empty, then my device simple does not suck that toner anymore from new bottle. Yesterday was this exact situation, and now it's a pain in the ass to make it work with a new toner. I'm so tired of this and probably with time, it's more and more hard to make it working back. So, I have researched info about this problem in this Forum. And I have questions. Can I order and change newer part D0293221 (Black toner pump) to my Ricoh MP C2800? In the attached pdf Service Bulletin, there is info about interchangeability, and I don't understand, it will work or not with my device, how to check this? Or I must ask for D0293201, older part?

                  Hi there,
I am planning to work on ricoh 2800 with similar issue, this would be my first interaction with a ricoh machine. I do have a service manual, could you please help me how to turn off 'end of toner detection' ?
                  thanks.

The SP mode to do so is clearly shown in the PDF on this very Thread, AND the other thread that you asked the exact same question!
PLUS, you have a service manual

If you don't replace the toner pump in question, you will fail.
Or not. Who knows. This thread was finished a long time ago.
You will be a lot more likely to get useful information if you start a new thread rather than trying to glom onto one that was finished a long time ago.
                      Good luck.
