[Misc] MP C2500 Fax Reception Question

I was asked to network this box Yesterday for a friend who sold it, and isn't strong in that area. I was called back today because it wasn't receiving faxes. When I arrived I realized it had actually received them, it was just not printing them out.
"Store file" was turned on in Fax reception settings, and I was unable to turn it off as long as there were faxes in memory. I thought maybe I could view and print them via the WIM, but that didn't work, and the only way I was able to clear it was by resetting the fax back to "factory settings" in SP Mode. There obviously must be a way. This is at least the second time I've come across this, so I'm just looking for a tip for the next time it happens to one of these, or nearly any other model I suppose.
    Thanks in advance

I have had similar FAX faults.

    First check that :
    UserTools|Fax Features| Reception Settings|Memory Lock = off

In service mode FAX do an SP-6101 (Print all files) to see if you can get the FAX memory files to print out.

After that , the only way I could clear the FAX lockup is to do as you have already done.

When the fax memory locks up and won't print out I do an SP-510-1 (SRAM initialize).
If that doesn't work I then do an SP-5102 (Erase files).

Re: MP C2500 Fax Reception Question

I had to do this for someone a few months back. You need to go into the FAX option (fax button on control panel), and choose the button in the lower left corner of the screen "Select Stored File" which is where you will find a list of all the stored faxes. You can highlight and print them out. On the machine I was on, if my brain is remembering correctly, there will be a check box or something you can select to delete the faxes after they are printed out.

Once they are all printed out and deleted, you can then turn off the "Store to File" option for incoming faxes.

Thanks, I'll double-check, but I'm pretty sure I checked there and it said "no stored files", despite the memory being at 90% and the "receive file" light being on, but I can't be positive. The closest machine I have at my shop is an MP2550, but I'm sure the process is the same. Maybe I'll have to set aside some time to press some buttons. It seems I only really run across these annoyances when I'm trying to "help out", since I would always take the time to test the functions, and/or reset to default prior to delivery, and then make the settings that the client prefers

Thanks to you too, Neo, I'll check that SP mode for printing, although it just seems that it should be a user accessible function to print out the memory files
