Hi, Juts bought refurbished Ricoh Mp 7500 copier, and I've just realized if the Power saver and Operation switch are not responding. If I push those button, two long beeps will heard but no response from the machine (the machine still ON). From Op manual/guide the procedure to turn off the machine (in sequence) is by turn off the operation switch first and then turn off the main power switch. Since the operation switch is not working, I just turn the main switch to off position. My questions are: 1. Will it harm the machine, if I turn off the main power switch directly? 2. Is there any setting that causing this condition? (power saver and operational switch not responding/not active?) Thanks for your help. BR, Tri

Re: MP 7500 Power Saver and Operation switch are not responding
You should be fine just dropping it by the main switch. The machine outrightly refusing to shut itself down could becaused by several things, twitch hard disk, locked open fax line, couple of others. See what it does when you reboot it and post back please! It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

You might just pull that conpane and see if the harness for that section is connected. If its ok then in User Tools, hold down the # key and press the System setting button to reset to default.sigpic

Re: MP 7500 Power Saver and Operation switch are not responding
Hi TonerMunkeh,
Thanks for your response. So, is it save to turn off the machine through the MAIN SWITCH eventhough I do that everyday?
I have tried to reboot the machine twice, but the "problem" still there. And I found two different machine condition:- First attempt: After rebooting the machine, everything looks normal. Tried to push the operation button (nothing happen, with two long beeps heard), push the power saver also has the same result. After that I push the USER/SYSTEM SETTING to find out the current setting, but Suddenly the display was turn off and 5 seconds later the display ON again displaying PLEASE WAIT.... I wait for about 3 - 4 minutes, the machine still on that condition. I reboot the machine for the 2nd time
- Second attempt: The machine is UP after rebooting, check everything looks normal except FAX SETTING (on user setting) was missing. Exit from user setting, push the FAX front panel button and the front panel display show "LOADING" text. Wait for about 3 minutes, the LOADING text still there, hence I choose to exit from FAX and go to COPIER menu. I repeat as per step one to push the operation button and power saver button, the result still the same, two long beeps sound heard but the machine was not respond.

Re: MP 7500 Power Saver and Operation switch are not responding
Sounds to me that you have a bad fax module. Has the fax ever booted up completely? That would explain it not shutting down with the op panel power switch or the energy saver button not working too. If you do use the main power to shut down, make sure it isn't active.. like pocessing a print job or anything because you could kill the hard drive if it is using it while shutting down.Comment

Re: MP 7500 Power Saver and Operation switch are not responding
The fax module is boot up completely on the first day this machine arrive on my place, and I got this problem on 2nd day. I can check the machine activity (active job processing) through the JOB LIST menu, but - how can I check the certain module is active or not? (loading, checking etc etc...).
In case the module is broken/bad, can I just disable it from the setting menu or should it be remove from the machine?
Thanks,
Tri

I'd also check the logging data for any hidden sc codes.' "But the salesman said . . ." The salesman's an asshole!'

There's a piggy back PCB for the fax that tends to come loose and cause the fax "Loading" as well as the "Please Wait" scenarios. It probably came loose during the delivery of your machine.Comment

Re: MP 7500 Power Saver and Operation switch are not responding
I called the seller, and their technician trying to solve the problem but failed. They just send me the replacement unit.
Any suggestion how to maintain this 2nd hand unit to prolong its lifetime? I have checked the operation setting, output copier, print out and scanner result everything were good...but I just want to make sure the component inside the machine also OK.
