Ricoh 2238c - send to folder issue

    hi guys

does this scan to folder works okay with Ricoh 2238c?

I setup every thing as per the manual, but still it does not work.

Previously this was set up sent to email, but it is not working due to SSL thing.

now, we want to setup this scan to folder option, so that users can retrieve the scanned documents from the shared folder, but it is not working driving me crazy.... any ideas..

    thanks in advance
    regards

This model requires custom firmware to scan to folder in a server 2003 environment. They will not scan to folder in a server 2008/Windows 7 environment because of the higher encryption NTLMv2 requires. It will work in a workgroup environment though.

If the internal email account requires SSL, then you could setup an email account through "Yahoo" to use as your default 'send from' account, as it doesn't require SSL, put in the necessary info SMTP (use the ip address not smtp name here), username, password, etc. This is a workaround I've used several times

yes, our email account requires SSL

can I use mail.yahoo.com IP address instead the SMTP name?

Take a look at Ricoh.com. Under support there is a knowledge base area that has step by step on setting up all types of scanning, with pictures, that will help you.

I download the manual, trying to setup exactly what it says, but still no luck with both email and scan to folder.

I can under with email problem, as ours is SSL, ricoh does not support SSL etc.

but scan to folder, I could not get an idea why it is not working !!!

Server 2003 custom firmware is available to any tech with a valid Ricoh ID. You may have to call one in. We poor independent guys don't have access!

My apologies. A quick search suggests that 'Yahoo.com' requires SSL, whereas 'Yahoo.ca' here in Canada does not.
Another workaround that ALWAYS works but requires the pc in which it is installed to be ON, is installing "Stunnel" which work in conjunction with a GMAIL account.
                        You can download it here:
                        stunnel: Downloads

The configuration to make it work with the SSL on your Gmail is here:

I dont remember how to set up scan to folder on this machine

If you need to scan you can download scan router lite and use that to set up to scan to folder, make sure you put in the firewall to allow port 3760.. or 3670 i dont remember which one it is.

this program only works with xp. It has a problem sometimes with vista and will not work with 7. only install it on one computer.
