will have a look at it tomorrow and let you know, our environment is Windows XP and Server 2003, so it may work...

If you need to scan you can download scan router lite and use that to set up to scan to folder, make sure you put in the firewall to allow port 3760.. or 3670 i dont remember which one it is.

this program only works with xp. It has a problem sometimes with vista and will not work with 7. only install it on one computer.

yah, I was looking at the stunnel option as well, but I think this is last option and may not be a good idea to setup this for very this purpose, do not want to risk mails for all the users with this setup.

are there any smtp servers without SSL at present? I do not think so, ideas are welcome...

do you think mail xxxx@yahoo.ca will go thru yahoo.ca which require no SSL, silly question though

Another workaround that ALWAYS works but requires the pc in which it is installed to be ON, is installing "Stunnel" which work in conjunction with a GMAIL account.
      You can download it here:

The configuration to make it work with the SSL on your Gmail is here:

Sorry, I can't suggest any "non ssl" email services
Another "scan to folder" option you may consider rather than "scanrouter", because it is so outdated, quirky to configure, and lacks features - especially with colour machines, is utilizing a 3rd party FTP server (i use Filezilla), and then change the protocol when you're setting it up from SMB to FTP. Outside of that, I'm out of ideas (port 21 needs to be opened in windows firewall).

There is no firmware for that model that will overcome SMB2. If email doesnt work out, find an old XP box and set up scan to folder on that.

Yes. Server 2003 and XP can be scanned to quite easily so long as the custom firmware developed by Ricoh (any dealer or direct Ricoh tech will have access to this very easily) to deal with server 2003's packet signing is installed.

              Once that's installed, create:

              1. Domain account for the copier with a password that will not change
              2. Share folder, ensuring that the domain account created has full rights to read and write to this folder
              3. Add the path to the share folder in the copier's address book, using the user name and password of the domain account for authentication.
              4. Scan to your heart's content

Sure, plenty of times but not without the proper firmware. And at a certain time Ricoh only rewrote firmware for a certain of machines.

Server 2003 and XP are not a problem. server 2008 and W7 are the problem. Use the instructions in this thread and give it a shot
